https://genius.inspira.or.id/index.php/indogenius/article/view/662

Background & Objective: Skin fungus caused by Dermatopyta is called dermatophytosis. The causative fungi are Tricopyton, Microsporum, and Epidermophyton. Dermatophyta is a group of fungi that attach to keratinous tissue, such as the stratum corneum of the skin, nails, and human hair. These fungi can cause damage to living cells by activating the immune system. Stroke patients have difficulty fulfilling their daily needs, such as maintaining personal hygiene, which increases their risk of infection with Dermatophyta sp. fungi. This study aims to identify dermatophyte fungi in stroke patients in Kandeman subdistrict, Batang regency.

Method: This study used a descriptive design with a sample of 17 stroke patients in Kandeman subdistrict, Batang regency. Dermatophyte fungi were examined using a media culture method.

Result: The examination results showed that all samples were negative for Dermatophyta fungi. The factors supporting these negative results were that most patients still practiced good personal hygiene, such as showering twice a day, ensuring their bodies were completely dry, maintaining excessive dryness, and not experiencing itching on their bodies. This prevented the growth of Dermatophyta fungi in the armpits.

Conclusion: In conclusion, there was no Dermatophyta sp. fungal infection among stroke patients in Kandeman Subdistrict, Batang Regency.
Dela Stieka ApresiaTuti Suparyati

https://genius.inspira.or.id/index.php/indogenius/article/view/670

Background & Objective: Fungi are one of the microorganisms that cause disease in humans. Fungi are cosmopolitan organisms that grow anywhere, including in the air, soil, water, clothing, and even on the human body itself. Fungi can cause quite severe diseases in humans. Most skin and nail infections are the result of a group of homogeneous keratinophilic fungi known as dermatophytes. Dermatophytosis of the fingernails and toenails, unlike dermatophytosis in other parts of the body, is very difficult to treat with medical treatment. This study aims to determine the presence of Dermatophyta and Non-Dermatophyta fungi on the fingernails of warteg employees in Pekalongan Regency.

Method: This study is a descriptive study using total sampling with 30 respondents.

Result: Examination of 30 fingernail samples from food stall employees yielded positive results for Trichopyton sp. dermatophyte fungi in approximately 17% (5 samples), positive results for Candida sp. non-dermatophyte fungi in 87% (26 samples), and positive results for Aspergillus sp. fungi in 60% (18 samples).

Conclusion: Usually, some warteg sellers are found to lack hygiene in their fingernails while working. Risk factors that can cause fungal infections in fingernails in this study include several habits at work, such as frequent direct contact with water, causing the hands to become moist, not many people wearing gloves while working, and not maintaining fingernail hygiene, such as cutting nails more than once every two weeks.
Laela Rizqi FitrianiAgus Riyanto

https://genius.inspira.or.id/index.php/indogenius/article/view/791

Background & Objective: Work-related fatigue remains a significant concern in occupational health and safety, particularly in roles that demand high levels of physical exertion, such as fuel transportation. This study seeks to compare factors contributing to fatigue among fuel truck operators at Fuel Terminal Biak with findings from two prior investigations: one involving waste collectors in Kendari, and another examining lifting equipment operators at PT Pelindo IV Kendari Branch. The analysis focuses on three primary variables: workload, employment duration (tenure), and working hours or shift patterns.

Method: All three studies applied a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design and utilized chi-square tests for statistical analysis.

Result: The findings suggest that workload and job tenure consistently exhibit a significant correlation with fatigue across all occupational groups examined. In contrast, the impact of work hours appears inconsistent, with notable influence from contextual factors such as sleep quality and the implementation of night shifts.

Conclusion: These results highlight the need for customized work scheduling and comprehensive fatigue management. The study underscores the importance of targeted interventions by employers and policymakers through strategies such as balanced workload distribution, structured rest periods, and ergonomic support. Such efforts are particularly critical in physically demanding and high-risk industries like fuel distribution, where fatigue poses direct threats to safety and operational efficiency.
Rahmi AprianiSarah Handayani

https://genius.inspira.or.id/index.php/indogenius/article/view/854

Background & Objective: Patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) commonly experience shortness of breath due to impaired myocardial contractility, which leads to reduced cardiac output and subsequently decreases systemic blood circulation. This condition can result in several complications such as dyspnea, orthopnea, exertional dyspnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea (PND), edema, ascites, cardiogenic shock, and decreased oxygen saturation. Patients who exhibit clinical signs and symptoms of heart failure often present with actual or potential nursing problems, which can affect basic human needs, such as decreased cardiac output. One of the appropriate nursing interventions for this issue is monitoring the patient’s daily fluid intake and output. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the nursing intervention of fluid intake and output monitoring in hospitalized CHF patients.

Method: This study employs a descriptive approach using a case study design. The respondents in this case were two patients diagnosed with CHF. The nursing intervention involved measuring the patients’ fluid intake and output over a 24-hour period and evaluating the outcomes by calculating fluid balance.

Result: The results of the nursing care showed that Patient 1 had a fluid balance of -300 ml and Patient 2 had a fluid balance of -580 ml.

Conclusion: These findings suggest that the intervention of fluid intake and output monitoring can be applied to CHF patients to improve their quality of life.
Serly AgustinaSugiarto Sugiarto

https://genius.inspira.or.id/index.php/indogenius/article/view/876

Background & Objective: This study aimed to describe the stress levels experienced by Indonesian elderly caregivers (nurses) working in Japan, with a focus on their demographic characteristics and psychological well-being.

Method: A descriptive quantitative design was applied to portray stress without examining relationships among variables. The population comprised 51 Indonesian caregivers, all of whom were included as respondents using a total sampling technique. Data were collected online from July to August 2025 through a validated 12-item Zarit Burden Interview questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics using SPSS. Demographic information such as gender and age was also obtained.

Result: Results revealed that most respondents were female (88.2%) and in the 26–35 age group (52.9%). Stress level analysis showed that 39.2% experienced low stress, 41.2% moderate stress, and 19.6% high stress. These findings indicate that while most caregivers manage caregiving demands adequately, a significant proportion experiences moderate to high stress that may affect health and job performance.

Conclusion: The study concludes that gender, age, and workplace conditions are key determinants of caregiver stress and recommends targeted mental health interventions, supportive workplace policies, and stress management training to reduce psychological burdens. Future research should incorporate longitudinal and mixed-method approaches to identify causal factors and coping mechanisms to better inform preventive strategies.
Irma AmaliaEska Dwi Prajayanti

https://genius.inspira.or.id/index.php/indogenius/article/view/940

Background & Objective: Pneumonia is one of the serious diseases that occurs in the lower respiratory tract. This disease is one of the causes of death among children, especially those under five years of age. This condition is of great concern to health workers, especially nurses, because proper treatment can help reduce mortality rates. Therefore, quality and comprehensive nursing care is needed so that the healing process runs optimally. This study aims to determine how the quality of nursing care can affect the length of hospital stay in children with pneumonia.

Method: This study used a literature review approach by searching Google Scholar for publications from 2020 to 2025. The keywords used were “children with pneumonia,” “nursing care,” “length of stay,” and synonyms such as “pneumonia in children,” “quality of nursing care for children,” and “duration of hospitalization.”

Result: Six articles that met the inclusion criteria were found. The analysis showed that 83.3% (n=5) of these articles proved that the quality of nursing care had an effect on reducing the length of hospital stay, while 16.7% (n=1) of the articles highlighted the importance of a non-pharmacological approach to reducing children's anxiety during treatment. Nurses play a central role in every stage of nursing care, from observation, education, and therapy to interprofessional collaboration.

Conclusion: These findings confirm that comprehensive nursing care focused on children's needs can accelerate the healing process and reduce the length of hospital stays. Therefore, the quality of nursing care needs to be continuously improved in order to have a positive impact on the quality of life and safety of pediatric patients in healthcare facilities.
Gloria Angelika WaruwuAngela MeiciliaPermaida PermaidaMariam Dasat
